Approvals from the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) and the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) must be obtained before commencing any construction activities.

Approval depends on land area: lands below 5 acres are approved by local bodies, while those above 5 acres require DTCP (Chennai Head Office) approval.
